Well, folks, it's come to this. I've fallen so far behind on my reading goals that drastic measures are required. As I confessed in my last post, "Two Weeks of Silence (and I'm Not Talking About a Book)", life has been a whirlwind, and my reading has suffered.
To get back on track, I've decided to dedicate the next month to the humble novella.
Yes, you heard that right. I'm temporarily setting aside those epic fantasy tomes and sprawling historical sagas in favor of their shorter, more manageable cousins.
Why novellas?
Bite-Sized Stories: Novellas offer complete narratives in a fraction of the time it takes to read a full-length novel. This makes them perfect for squeezing into a busy schedule.
Sense of Accomplishment: There's something incredibly satisfying about finishing a book in a day or two. This "quick win" can provide the motivation I need to keep the reading momentum going.
Exploring New Authors/Genres: Novellas are a great way to sample an author's work or dip my toes into a new genre without a huge time commitment.
I'm actually excited about this experiment. I've already got a stack of novellas lined up, spanning various genres. I'm looking forward to experiencing the unique challenges and rewards of this shorter form.
Have you ever had a "novella month"? Any recommendations? Wish me luck as I attempt to conquer my reading goals, one novella at a time!
Happy reading!
